Design Philosphy
Like the Mist of Water, light wraps us, melting into the scenery without exact shapes. Keeping this philosophy in mind and by transitioning the lights and its angles, our designs will ‘color’ the space and, ultimately, enrich the scenery.
We aim not to only create a sense of place but also to elevate the environment’s elegance through Lighting Design. We believe that lighting design can accentuate the meaning of the place whilst evoking an emotional connection between the users and its environment.
To maximize the project’s potential, we firstly research the contexts and cultural heritage of its location. At the same time, we instill the architectural design intentions as well as the Client’s expectations whilst considering the (future) user’s feelings and perceptions. By looking at the project from these various lenses, we will provide the Client with an optimized lighting solution.
Through numerous projects and activities, we have had opportunities to think about the ‘essence of light’ in a broader context. This means not to only view the designs from a functional perspective (such as usage), but to take a more holistic approach and identify the interaction between Lighting, the Community and Life as well as connecting Light with People. Ultimately our purpose is to bring pleasure and positive energy to all users of our designs.
Design Principal & Founder
Misa Kinoshita
With over 10 years of international lighting design experience with ‘Lighting Planners Associates’, Misa Kinoshita has founded Mist Light Design in 2019. Over the course of her career, and supplemented with her passion for lighting design, Misa has collaborated with numerous international architectural firms across the globe. Misa’s designs can be found in Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mainland China and Vietnam. As the lead designer, Misa has been involved in Façade, Interior and Exterior Lighting design for Skyscrapers, International Hotels and Mixed-Use Developments. By means of her broad, vast and global experience, Misa has the ability to understand the design from different angles and to provide creative lighting designs unlocking each project’s potential.

Renowned projects are such as Luxury Brands Shops, Offices, Residences, Hotels and Restaurants designed by remarkable Japanese Interior Designers.
