Amano Hospital aims to be a hospital that is open to the community and exists together with it. In response to this vision, the lighting design was developed to softly welcome people and gently connect the interior and exterior. Seeking an environment in which trustworthiness and approachability coexist, the design carefully calibrates the intensity of brightness on walls and ceilings so that visitors are naturally guided from the entrance to the reception area. By integrating light into architectural elements that define the building—such as the main structural columns, the slits in the rotary ceiling, and the uplighting around the main staircase—the design secures a sense of brightness while aiming to create an open, common-like space that responds to the scale of the surrounding streetscape. Through a modulation of light that does not rely on uniform brightness, it creates a warm and calm place within the hospital, where tension can easily arise.
